Coaching Policy and Procedures
Policy:
1. Rottingdean Bowling Club (RBC) has coaches appointed by the club and designated as Club Coaches and officers of the club. Club Coaches must have Level 2 accreditation from
the English Bowls Coaches Society (EBCS), or the equivalent accreditation from Coach Bowls (CB), which is Level 1.
2. RBC can have additional qualified coaches, with accreditation as above.
3. RBC encourages and supports members who wish to take coaching courses. Courses must be taken at the member’s own expense, but Coach Bowls sometimes offers bursaries,
which the club would endorse.
4. RBC recommends that Coach Bowls is the body from which accreditation is gained. Coach Bowls is affiliated to Bowls England. If accreditation is gained from the EBCS, then Level 2
is required.
5. Additional coaches will help to ensure a succession plan is in place, should a Club Coach decide to retire from their position. It will also retain the real opportunity to bring new
members into the club.
6. Coaching for all abilities, including beginners, is currently scheduled on Wednesday mornings at 10.00, throughout the playing season, and is always run by a Club Coach.
Other coaches may be asked to attend and support. Coaching on an ad-hoc basis, with an accredited coach, can also be arranged.
Procedure for attending coaching sessions:
1. Members of all playing abilities, and potential new members, can attend the current Wednesday coaching sessions, without an appointment.
2. If a member would like coaching on an ad-hoc basis, outside of the current Wednesday coaching sessions, this can be arranged with any accredited coach.
